International Islamic University Malaysia Launches Nine Islamic Religious and Perspective Books

The publishing arm of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Tuesday launched nine Islamic religious and perspective books written by different authors, to appreciate and honour their academic staff.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), The President of IIUM who also the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said the books of Islamic religious and perspective perhaps will benefit in humanity globally.

"There are five books written in English, three in Arabic and one in Malay language.

"The books were publish by the IIUM Press and International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC, IIUM Kuala Lumpur Campus) and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka," he told reporters at the launch in IIUM, here Tuesday.

Mohd Sidek said the press unit has been very active in upholding not only quantity but quality in the publications.

He said from the nine, three were authored by non-IIUM academic staff who had a relationship, in one way or another, with IIUM.

"Two of them are brothers from Indonesia, Dr Hamid Fahmy Zarkasy, and Dr Amal Fathullah Zarkasyi, both are Vice-Rectors of Darussalam Institute of Islamic Studies Gontor Ponorogo Indonesia. Dr Hamid is a former graduate of ISTAC, IIUM.

"The third author is Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohamad Sujimon, the Director of Centre for Islam and Social Sciences (CISS), International Institute of Islamic Law, Management and Finance (ILMF), Brisbane, Australia. He was formerly the Dean of the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia from 2002 to 2005," he said.
