Brunei -- Public entertainment producers, providers and managers were urged to take proactive steps to curb any forms of entertainment that are reckless and extravagant.Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman made the call yesterday at the Tafsir Al-Qur’an lecture held at Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
He said some forms of entertainment contain elements that could influence the public to forget about religious etiquette and customs.
The forms of entertainment that should be avoided were derived from the Al-Qur’an, Surah Luqman which tells about attempts by some people to sidetrack worshippers from the teachings and ways of life of Islam with distracting entertainment.
Present at the lecture yesterday were staff from the Ministry of Communications and members of the Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Womens Ta’lim Council.
