Bangalore: The Shia Muslims of Bangalore have expressed their pain and hurt at the article on Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei published in Bangalore Mirror on Jan 2 (a London-based report by news agency ANI), on page 15.
In a joint statement, the Shia organisations said that the article is insulting and derogatory. Imam Khamenei is a religious, respected and revered spiritual leader, who is a leading voice against oppression and injustice.
The statement signed by Ascent Foundation president S H A Rizvi and Dr Badami, Anjuman-e-Jafariya president Moulana Syed Khaum Abbas, Idara-e-Faizul Islam president Syed Hakim Raza, Anjuman-e-Hyderi president Meer Murtuza Hussain, Imamia Education & Welfare Trust president Mirza Md Mehdi, Al Balagh Organisation and Houzat-e Ilmia, and Al-Hadi Knowledge Centre representative Syed Yasir, and Member of Central Haj Committee Syed Imtiaz Hyder, condemned the article and termed it defamatory. “These are not based on facts”.
