AIM proudly presents “Milestones in Shi’a Thought”; a course examining the lives of some of the very earliest scholars of Shi’a Islam and the unique contributions which they made to its development. Covering more than two hundred years of intellectual history, from the time of Imam al-Sadiq (d. 148 AH) to Shaykh al-Tusi (d. 460 AH), students will come to appreciate the problems faced by the early Shi’a - especially the crisis of the Occultation (ghaybah) of the Twelfth Imam - and how a handful of men and women responded to these challenges, preserving the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt and ultimately laying the foundations of modern Twelver Shi’ism.
This course is led by Brother Iskander Khaleeli, an academic and student at the Hawza Ilmiya in Qum. He was previously a student at the Islamic College in London and is a well known speaker in conferences and seminars around the country.
