LIFE for Relief and Development has been selected as the implementing agency for awarding free Hajj trips to some 125 Africans.

LIFE for Relief and Development has been selected as the implementing agency for awarding free Hajj trips to some 125 Africans.  The project is underwritten by the Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Charity.

Those selected to make the Hajj journey this year include elderly Muslims who have never realized their dream of making the Hajj, Muslim converts, and community leaders.  The countries from which the awardees hail include:  Somalia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Sudan.

The all-expenses paid trip is valued at approximately $4,000 per person, or $500,000 for the entire group.  This project is being personally funded by Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum, the wife of Mohammed Bin Rashed, who is the ruler of Dubai and the vice president of the United Arab Emirates.
