After fifteen years Saudi Shias lamented the anniversary martyrdom of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (pbuh) in streets, mosques and hussainiyah in the eastern region.
According to Ahl ul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), tens of thousands Saudi Shias celebrated the anniversary martyrdom of Imam Ali (pbuh) on Tuesday night at mosques and Hussainiyah.

Most of the shops in the towns of Al-Ahsa and Qatif were closed on Thursday to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Ali (a.s).
It is for the first time after fifteen years which Saudi Shias freely mourning in public areas. Some of Saudi politicians believe that it is because of the pressure of Human Rights organizations over Saudi government to observe the rights of Shiite Muslims.
Human Rights Watch in its final report said that Saudi Shiites suffer deprivation of dignity and systematic discrimination.
