MASAKA Muslims of the Kibuli faction have constructed a sh650m mosque at Kitenga in Mukungwe sub-county. The group asked their counterparts supporting sheikh Shaban Mubajje to stop calling them hooligans.
“Hooligans cannot mobilise funds to put up such a mosque,” Said Masaka district Muslim council chairperson sheikh Ismail Musisi. He was addressing security officers led by the district Police commander, Moses Mwanga, who inspected the mosque and land owned by the Muslims.
“We shall not stop at constructing this mosque. We plan putting up a technical institute, primary and Koran schools which will improve the quality of sheikhs we have,” Musisi explained. Abdallah Mutazindwa, the mosque imam, said a projector and computer would be installed to enable women follow prayers.
Mustafa Abdul Rahman Kasule, a Tabliq leader in Nyendo, thanked the Masaka police for being impartial during the wrangles between the Kibuli faction headed by Zubair Kayongo and that of Mubajje.
He requested the Government to listen to Muslims and understand their problems before it uses force to resolve their conflicts.
