A special function to commemorate the Wiladat of Sayyida Fatimatuz Zahra (AS) and Sayyida Zainab (AS) was held on Saturday 20th June 2009 at the Bilal Hall in Mombasa.
The programme, organized by the Zahra Women’s Group of Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (BMMK) commenced with the recitation of a verse from Holy Quran and Hadith-e-Kisa by Sr Nasreen Ganji. Thereafter, a formal welcome speech was made by Sr Fatma Aboud on behalf of Mrs Sakinabai Dhalla, convenor of the programme.
This was followed by recitations of Qasidas on Sayyida Fatima (AS) by Sis Sukaina Virjee and her group in Urdu and Qasidas on Sayyida Zainab (AS) by the Zahra Madrasah Group in Kiswahili. A lecture on the life of Sayyida Fatima (AS) was made by Sr Sophie Ebrahim in Kiswahili. The lecture on Sayyida Zainab (AS) was made by Sr Batul Mustafa in English. These lectures touched the hearts of many in the audience.
An educational and informative quiz programme was organized on the topic of Surah Al Infitar, Namaze Mayyit, haidh and istihadha. The participants were from Zahra Madrasah Senior Section. Both the teams scored equal marks. There was also a quick crossword session organized for the audience.
Before concluding the programme, Mrs Masumabai Somji, Chairlady of Zainabiya Society made a speech in Kiswahili commending the good work undertaken by Mrs Sakinabai Dhalla and her group. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs Raziya Dewji.
The programme concluded with recitation of Dua and Ziyarats by Zahra Madrasah. Tabarruk was distributed at the end of the function.
Ladies from different communities were present. A crowd of more than 270 including elders, women and children made the programme a great success.
