Egyptian weekly Al Fajr released an article in its latest publication that Imam Ali (pbuh) doubtlessly belong to Sunni Muslims, thus why Shia Muslims think Imam Ali (a.s) is their Imam?

According to Ahl-ul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), after realizing the article, Al Fajr weekly newspaper said: we do not intend to attack the Shia Muslims because they are our brothers. We believe that the differences between Islamic sects should be solved by religious scholars.

The weakly added: we hope a logic dialogue between two sects. We propounded this problrm because some of the Shias think Imam Ali (a.s) is a monopolistic imam who just belongs to them, while we believe that Imam Ali (a.s) is the Sunni imam.

According to the paper, Prophet (pbuh) said "I am the city of science and Ali (a.s) its door", the question now is: Why prophet (pbuh) issued this?! The answer is that "When Imam Ali (a.s) was a boy converted to Islam and from the beginning of his birthdays was besides prophet (pbuh), and never leave him. Thus there was a unique relationship between the prophet (pbuh) as a teacher and Imam Ali (a.s) as a pupil. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught the whole of the holy Quran and Sunnah to Imam Ali (a.s), moment by moment and hour by hour, which is not for anyone else on earth.

According to that Ali bin Abi Talib (a.s) is the Imam of the Sunni Muslims. He is righteous Imam, the pious Imam and the Faqih Imam.

The newspaper concluded that: "Therefore, we swear that Imam Ali (a.s) firstly belongs to Ahl al-Sunnah.
