Eight Shias detain in less than ten days in Saudi Arabia

The Criminal Investigation Department of Saudi Arabia has arrested Mr. Hejji Hussein Al-Hamad - 50 year – from Turaibeel village because of participation in religious events.

In confirmation of the News Agencies, a few days ago the intention of the authorities to launch a campaign of arrests in towns and cities of Al-Ahsa in the coming weeks, the Criminal Investigation Department has arrested Mr. Haji Hussein Al-Hamad - 50 year – from Turaibeel village because of participation in religious ceremony which be held yearly; bringing to eight the number of detainees in less than ten days

They were summoned by the Imarah , apparently, to be informed with the administrative custody terms issued against them by governor Badr Al-Jalawi prior to their deportation to prison.

One of them attributed the cause of subpoena that the authorities believed there was a breach of the commitment signed earlier by the detainees not to participate in religious activities. However, many citizens expressed their disapproval of the criteria applied in the current definition of a breach of commitment. While some accused of participating in consolation ceremonies, others were surprised that the distribution of food as a celebration led to their arrest.
