Addressing a conference titled “Human Rights: from Theory to Practice”, which was held Monday in Tehran, Ayatollah Amid Zanjani said that Islam is a universal religion and it therefore contains all principles of human rights.
“It should not be assumed that we follow the west in human rights issues as it is easy for us to obtain all human rights principles from the teachings of the holy Quran and the tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his Household (AS),” he observed.
The “Human Rights: from Theory to Practice” conference was organized by the University of Tehran’s Institute for Legal Studies in cooperation with the Research Center of the Majlis (Parliament) and the Students Baseej.
