Tehran Book Fair to offer copies of rare Quran

Copies of holy Quran translated into Persian by mystic Abolfazl Rashid ad-Din Meibodi in the 12th century, will go on display at the 22nd Tehran International Book Fair.

The original copy was later transcribed by calligrapher Mohammad-Hossein ibn Ali-Askar Arsanjani in 1882.

The new copies will now be displayed by Miras-e Maktub Research Center at the fair and are for sale, Public Relations Office of the center reported.

The new copy is corrected by scholars of Persian literature Mehdi Malek-Sabet and Ali Ravaqi, said Zeinab Piri, head of the Public Relations Office of the center.

“Each page begins with one verse and ends with another verse. No verse is broken between one page and the next. Achieving this result took a great deal of effort, of course,” she added.

The copy presents sharp, ornate calligraphy and the reader will enjoy easy reading as a result, she said.

The 22nd Tehran International Book Fair will run from May 6 to 16.
