Kazan to Host Int’l Islamic Business & Finance Summit

The Russian Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance, the Centre of Perspective Economic Research of Academy of Science (Tatarstan, Russia), Kuala-Lumpur Business School (Malaysia) and IFC Linova (Tatarstan, Russia) are jointly organizing the first International Islamic Business and Finance Summit on June 11-12, 2009.

The summit, which will be held in city of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, is supported also by the Islamic Development Bank and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The objective of the summit is to provide the participants with opportunities to establish international business contacts and to present different investment projects, as well as to study the perspectives for implementation of business conduct within the framework of the Islamic economic model. In addition, the Summit will also promote the introduction of principles and practices of Islamic finance and eventually the establishment of Islamic financial institutions in Russian Federation and CIS countries.

According to latest statistics there are around 20 million Muslims living in Russia, and certainly they should have the ability to conduct their economic activities in line with Shariah rules and principles.

Representatives of various business institutions and renowned speakers in Islamic economics and finance from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, CIS countries and Russia are expected to attend the event.
