Co-sponsored by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Center in the UK and the University of Oxford, the “Quran and Contemporary World” Conference is slated for August 16-17.

Scholars and thinkers from the UK, the Islamic Republic of Iran and other countries will present papers at the two-day event, which is aimed at shedding light on problems that arise from misreading and misunderstanding of the Quran in the modern world and the West in particular.

‘Effective communication of the Quran to the 21st century audiences’, ‘Quran and challenges of the contemporary world’, ‘how the Quran is understood in the west’, ‘the Quranic position towards loyalty to the law of the non-Islamic states by Muslim minorities’, ‘the Quranic statutes and western and international law’, ‘modern English translations of the Quran’, ‘Quran and educational curricula in the west’, and ‘Quran and world media’ are among the major topics of discussion at the conference.

Iran’s Cultural Center in London has invited scholars and researchers to send papers on the themes of the conference to its secretariat or visit ‪http://www‬.quran-institute.org.uk.
