AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): As millions of pilgrims are expected to gather to perform the ‘Rajabiyah Pilgrimage’ marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Kadhim (AS) in Iraq, the country’s Ministry of Interior has instructed the relevant institutions and organizations to be fully prepared to accommodate the visitors.
As the 25th of the lunar Hijri month of Rajab (January 24) approaches, when millions of pilgrims participate in the commemoration of the martyrdom of the 7th Imam (AS), the ministry has highlighted the increase in visa requests from Najaf Airport and the Safwan border.
It has called for the relevant authorities to be on standby to accommodate the pilgrims.
In a statement, the ministry said that it has been working to improve efficiency and performance in the issuance of electronic visas through digital transformation, aiming to reduce manual operations as much as possible and provide the best services.
It instructed the civil registration, passport, and residency department to be fully prepared and to operate under the supervision of the director general of civil registration to manage the influx of pilgrims.
Noting that the congestion at Najaf Airport and the Safwan border will come to an end within a few hours, the ministry said a comprehensive database has been established to register information through biometric methods.
It urged the people of the country to ignore rumors circulating on certain social media platforms that aim to exaggerate issues without regard for the facts.
The ministry emphasized the importance of careful information sharing, saying its personnel have demonstrated their ability to fulfill their responsibilities and ensure security during various large-scale events.
The 7th Imam was poisoned and martyred on Rajab 25, 183 (September 5, 799 AD) in the prison of Baghdad.
