New Quran study center opens in Arsk, Tatarstan

A new Quran study center in Arsk, Tatarstan, aims to deepen the understanding of the Holy Quran in the local community.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A new Quran study center in Arsk, Tatarstan, aims to deepen the understanding of the Holy Quran in the local community.

The center was inaugurated at the Central Mosque of the Arsky district, located at 38a Galaktionova Street, Arsk, Russia, on January 11, coinciding with the 11th day of Rajab in the Islamic calendar.

The opening ceremony brought together prominent officials, religious leaders, and community members, including Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, the Mufti of Tatarstan.

The construction of the Quran study center began on July 11, 2023, and was completed in less than 18 months.

This achievement was made possible through the collective support of local residents, the Arsky district administration, and the broader Muslim community of Tatarstan.

The center aims to provide Quranic education and enhance the understanding of Islamic teachings within the community, the tartar-congress news website reported.

In addition to the center's opening, the “Chishma” spring near the Gabdunnasir Kursavi Mosque in Arsk was also unveiled after undergoing renovations funded by worshippers and philanthropists.

The Arsky Muhtasibat, responsible for the region's religious affairs, currently manages 94 mosques and employs 138 instructors who teach the basics of Islam. Meanwhile, the Gabdulla Tukay Spiritual and Educational Center, established three years ago, now educates 150 students under the guidance of 17 teachers.

Arsk, a small historic town in Tatarstan, is situated approximately 65 kilometers northeast of Kazan, the republic's capital.

Tatarstan itself is a federal subject of Russia with a diverse population, including a significant Muslim community.
