AhlulBayt News Agency: The people of Karbala, in cooperation with the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them), organized a ceremony of raising the flag of condolence on the death anniversary of the immaculate lady Zaynab (peace be upon her).
The ceremony was held at the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), in the presence of the secretary-general of the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, a number of its officials, in addition to a delegation from the Imam al-Hussayn's (p) shrine, representatives of the parties of Karbala and its processions and bodies, and a group of mournful visitors.
The flag-raising activities began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by Sayed Aqeel al-Yasiri, in which he touched on aspects of the biography of Al-Hawra Zaynab (peace be upon her) and what she was subjected to at the hands of the oppressors, followed by a speech by the people of Karbala delivered by Sayed Haider al-Mi'mar.
The Secretary General said:"the people of the city of Karbala, under the auspices of the two holy shrines, commemorated the death anniversary of the great lady Zaynab (peace be upon her) by organizing a ceremony of raising the Blessed flag of condolence at the Qibla gate of the shrine of her brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him)".
"This event is being held for the first time this year and will continue in the coming years,"he added.
In the same context, the deputy secretary general of the Imam al-Hussay's (p) shrine, Dr. Alaa Dia-Uddin, said: "today we attended the ceremony of raising the flag of sadness and condolences on the death anniversary of the Lady Al-Hawra Zaynab (peace be upon her), and it is a great honor to be part of this blessed event."
The events included the holding of a condolence Council and the chanting of Lamentations that recalled the sacrifices of Aqeela Zaynab (peace be upon her) amid an atmosphere of sadness and sorrow that overshadowed those present.
