AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned as “a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter” the joint US-British-Israeli airstrikes against Yemen, warning that such acts pose a grave threat to regional peace and security.
Araghchi made the remarks during a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg in the capital Tehran on Sunday.
He went on to say that these joint operations are a clear violation of Yemen's territorial integrity and national sovereignty, describing them as a serious threat to regional peace and security, the consequences of which have affected all countries in the region.
The top Iranian diplomat further reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s support for the United Nations’ initiatives to help improve the situation in Yemen.
Grundberg, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iran's commitment to playing an effective role in the stability and security in the region, particularly in Yemen.
He also emphasized the need for continuing consultations with Iran on regional issues, as he presented a report on the UN’s latest efforts to establish peace and stability in Yemen, as well as his recent visit to Sana'a.
The US and its allies have been bombing Yemen over the past months in violation of the country’s sovereignty and international law.
The illegal attacks came in response to Yemen’s campaign in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid a genocidal Israeli war.
As part of their campaign, the Yemeni Armed Forces have targeted ships heading to or departing ports in the occupied territories, or those linked to Israel, in the southern Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and even in the Arabian Sea.
They have also conducted strikes against Israeli targets in the occupied lands.
The Yemeni forces have stressed that they will continue their anti-Israel operations until the occupying regime ends its bloody Gaza onslaught.
