AhlulBayt News Agency: Sharon Konio, the wife of David Konio, an Israeli held captive in Gaza, sent a message in Arabic on Friday appealing to the Palestinian resistance for a video showing her husband’s condition.
In her message, Sharon said, “My name is Sharon Konio, and my husband David Konio is in Gaza. You know that Islam considers captives among the vulnerable groups deserving compassion, kindness, and care, such as the poor and the orphan. They must be treated humanely, respecting their rights and dignity. Therefore, I request a video of David so that I can see him. Thank you.”
For its part, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, broadcast a video clip entitled “Soon … Time is Running Out”, which was published in three languages Arabic, English, and Hebrew.
The message comes amid growing despair among the families of Israeli captives as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government continues to stall negotiations for a prisoner exchange deal, amid the families’ protests demanding an immediate swap agreement.
In recent months, Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades and Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades have released videos of Israeli captives urging their government to strike a deal for their release, holding Netanyahu accountable for their fate.
On Friday, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported, citing foreign sources, that Israel has agreed to advance negotiations on the second phase of a prisoner exchange with Palestinian factions in Gaza, parallel to implementing the first phase, amid ongoing violence in the region and continued talks in Doha.
