AhlulBayt News Agency: Palestinian and Jordanian officials have condemned an Israeli map that claimed territories of several Arab countries as part of the so-called “greater Israel.”
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority, described the map shared by Israeli social media accounts this week as a blatant violation of all international resolutions and laws.
He said Israeli occupation policies, attacks by settlers, and the relentless storming of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound require “an urgent international stance to stop what the Palestinian people are being subjected to from war and destruction.”
The spokesman also called on the incoming US administration to halt unconditional support for all Israeli policies that undermine security and peace in West Asia.
Parts of the Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian, and Lebanese territories were included in the map.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry also described the document as “provocative and baseless.”
The ministry said Israeli actions based on racism would neither undermine Jordan’s sovereignty nor change the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
It added that the Israeli regime must “immediately cease these provocative actions and stop the reckless statements, which are only fueling tensions and contributing to the instability of the region.”
The ministry said that publishing the map coincided with “racist statements” made by far-right hawkish Israeli minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the annexation of the Occupied West Bank and the construction of settlements in the besieged Gaza Strip.
After recent US elections, in which Donald Trump emerged as the winner, speculation has been rife that the Israeli regime is seeking to significantly expand its settlement construction in the occupied West Bank, which has been evident from appointments made by the US president-elect.
In Gaza, many Israeli soldiers have been seen displaying their regime's expansionist ambitions by wearing patches on their uniforms that depict maps of the Israeli regime extending into many regional countries, including Syria and Iraq.
These patches, which often feature the Israeli regime's flag superimposed over a map of the region with redrawn borders, symbolize the desire to conquer Arab lands beyond the current boundaries of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli finance minister, revealed his desire to not only conquer all Palestinian territories up to the Jordan River but also to extend to include Damascus. Smotrich also expressed his ambition to annex territories reaching as far as Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
Israel’s recent military offensive in Lebanon, which began in late September and concluded with a ceasefire on November 27, was believed to be part of the Zionist regime’s broader expansionist strategy. However, it ended in a disaster for the occupation regime.
