AhlulBayt News Agency: Bashar Murad, the director of health programs at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, said that since October 7, 2023 the Israeli occupation has systematically and deliberately targeted Palestinian medical teams, killing more than 1,056 and arresting 350 others.
Murad confirmed in press statements on Monday that there are severe violations against health workers in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, whether they are paramedics or primary care teams, as well as those in Palestinian hospitals.
He noted that to this moment, four branches of the Red Crescent have been directly targeted, with large parts of them destroyed, including the Jabalia branch in northern Gaza, which was completely destroyed, in addition to the repeated targeting of Al-Quds Hospital in the city of Gaza, which is operated by the Red Crescent and has also been directly attacked.
Murad added that Al-Amal Complex, the largest center of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza City, was also targeted, resulting in the deaths of 47 martyrs at that time, including medical and paramedic staff, as well as displaced persons who sought refuge there, estimated to number 14,000.
He indicated that about 80% of the society’s resources have been systematically and deliberately destroyed in the Gaza Strip, despite the fact that the Red Crescent and the Red Cross are considered protected international entities under international law in areas of war and conflict.
He pointed out that 32 Red Crescent personnel have been martyred due to the Israeli war machine, most of whom were directly and deliberately targeted while performing their duties in the Gaza Strip.
The director of health programs at the Red Crescent emphasized that since the first day of its aggression against Gaza, the occupation army has continued to target medical teams and completely disrupt the medical organization’s work by bombing hospitals and killing and arresting medical personnel.
The toll of the Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, in the Gaza Strip has risen to 45,854 martyrs, along with 109,139 wounded, according to the daily report issued by the Ministry of Health today, Monday.
In a disregard for the international community, Israel continues its massacres in Gaza, ignoring the United Nations Security Council’s resolution to stop immediately, as well as the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
