AhlulBayt News Agency: A Persian-speaking poet and professor of Persian literature at the University of Kashmir in India highlighted the popularity of Martyr Qassem Soleimani in the country.
Speaking at a literary gathering titled “Nation of Imam Hussein (AS)” on Wednesday evening, January 2, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, Seyed Mohammad Reza Salaskut said the rescue of Indian nurses from the clutches of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) by Haj Qassem led to the recognition and respect of the people of India for this tireless warrior.
He emphasized that in India, especially in the northern regions and areas with a Shia population, General Soleimani is regarded as the Malik Ashtar of the Leader of the Revolution and a living martyr.
Hajj Qassem Soleimani, a brave commander and defender of humanity, is not only popular in Iran but also has a special place in the hearts of people around the world, including India, he said, adding that in northern regions of India, such as Kashmir and Kargil (Ladakh), Hajj Qasem is recognized as an inspiring figure and a symbol of resistance.
The martyr is seen as someone who saved humanity from the horrors of Daesh and has secured an unmatched place in the hearts of the people, he stated.
“After the martyrdom of Haj Qassem, memorial ceremonies for him continue to be held in these areas. Poets write beautiful verses in local languages in his honor, and his photographs adorn the walls of homes and mosques. Some alleys and streets have even been named after this esteemed martyr,” Salaskut stated.
The university professor concluded by stressing that General Soleimani, through his sacrifices and unmatched role in the struggle against oppression, has left an everlasting name in the history of humanity.
“The love and devotion of the people of India, especially in Kashmir and Ladakh, toward him not only as a military commander but also as a prominent global figure is a testament to the profound impact this martyr has had on the hearts of millions of people around the world.”
The literary event was hosted by the Hindiran International Group and featured the participation of various cultural and literary figures from countries within the Iranian cultural sphere, with Seyed Masoud Alavitabar as the host.
General Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, was martyred in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
