AhlulBayt News Agency: A Palestinian political analyst said Gen. Qassem Soleimani regarded the issue of Palestine as the core concern of the Islamic world, which should be supported by any means possible.
For Martyr Soleimani, the issue of Palestine represented a unifying project at the national and Muslim Ummah level, Ahmed Abdulrahman said in an interview with IQNA, on the 5th anniversary of the martyrdom of the senior Iranian commander.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), along with a number of their companions, were assassinated in a US drone attack on Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
Abdulrahman told IQNA, “We are aware of the important role played by Haj Qassem Soleimani and Haj Abu Mahdi in Palestine. In fact, these two great martyrs had a significant impact on strengthening security in the region, especially during the rise of the Takfiri terrorists of Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) and their associated groups, which carried out destructive actions and massacres in several countries, including Iraq and Syria. They (Daesh members) also committed terrorist attacks in other countries, including Iran, Lebanon, and many other areas.”
He added, “In my opinion, the roles of these two martyrs were central and operational in combating terrorists, and they boosted the morale of the resistance forces. These two noble martyrs accomplished significant actions in a short and very challenging period, as the terrorist attacks were carried out with the support of the United States and colonial powers in the region. These two martyrs remarkably succeeded in halting these attacks in various locations, especially in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, and played a pivotal role in the destruction of the terrorism front.”
Asked about the impact of Martyrs Soleimani and Al-Muhandis on changing the balance of power in favor of the resistance movement, he said, “In fact, the balance of power clearly shifted during the time of these two esteemed martyrs. In many countries within the resistance axis, and even beyond, such as Bosnia and other states, we witnessed that wherever Muslims faced challenges, Haj Qassem Soleimani was present to address those issues.”
He further said, “Al-Muhandis also defended Iraq and Syria from the frontlines, playing a significant role in those countries. It can truly be said that the charisma of these two great men had a tremendous impact on the commanders and forces of resistance, who drew inspiration and morale from them.”
Abdulrahman emphasized the roles of Martyrs Soleimani and Al-Muhandis in the issue of Palestine and the strengthening of Palestinian resistance, saying there is no doubt that Haj Qassem and, more broadly, the Islamic Republic of Iran—especially the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—played a significant role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
“We know that all the struggles of the resistance forces in Gaza over the past year have been the result of Haj Qassem’s actions within the Quds Force, guided by the directives of (Leader of the Islamic Revolution) Ayatollah (Seyed) Ali Khamenei.”
Ahmed Abdul Rahman commented on the unifying personality of the martyr Soleimani, saying that anyone who knows Haj Qassem understands that he had a uniquely charismatic personality that cannot be compared to anyone else.
“Haj Qassem possessed a strong will and a strategic mindset that are rarely seen in others. He had a profound understanding of operational strategy, relying on the strength of the resistance forces.”
Abdulrahman went on to say that “Haj Qassem regarded the Palestinian issue as the central concern of the Islamic world, which should be supported by any means possible. For Haj Qassem, the Palestinian cause was a project of unity, both national and Islamic, rather than merely a religious or regional project—as some attempt to portray it. This is why he held such a significant position among all the forces of the resistance axis, and history will remember this great martyr as a leader and commander who expanded the resistance axis.
Referring to the loss caused by the martyrdom of these two great martyrs, he stated, “During these days, especially in the unique circumstances and significant transformations we are facing, we have lost Haj Qassem, al-Muhandis, and also Sayed Hassan Nasrallah. However, we are confident that their brothers and comrades will continue on this path.”
