An Iranian cleric described the religious ritual of Itikaf (religious retreat) as an opportunity for enhancing spirituality and promoting moral values.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An Iranian cleric described the religious ritual of Itikaf (religious retreat) as an opportunity for enhancing spirituality and promoting moral values.

It also provides an opportunity for enhancing connection with the Holy Quran, Hojat-ol-Islam Hossein Shahrokhi said.

He stressed that in planning Itikaf ceremonies, there should be special attention paid to the cultural and spiritual needs, particularly among the youth and teenagers.

Utilizing modern communication tools and creating content that appeals to the tastes of the new generation can significantly enhance the impact of this religious event he stated.

He emphasized the necessity of coordination in the execution of this religious event and the utilization of cultural and social capacities.

The cleric also underscored the special significance of Itikaf in religious education and the enhancement of public knowledge.

Itikaf is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, and is regarded as a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.

It is a spiritual practice in Islam that involves staying in a mosque for a certain number of days, fasting, and praying to God.

It is usually performed on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, which fall on January 14, 15, and 16, 2024.
