AhlulBayt News Agency: After 38 years of efforts, a Saudi man reached his longstanding goal of memorizing the entire Quran.

In an inspiring tale of perseverance, Abdulaziz Al Rabhi completed his Quran memorization journey after four decades.

The man has been keen to learn by heart the Quran and perfect its reading, an objective he has fulfilled in 38 years.

Al Rabhi said he started his journey at a young age and completed the memorization of the sacred book after reaching 60.

“My goal was to be an imam (a mosque leader), which motivated me to start memorizing the Quran,” he said in a TV interview.

Attaining this goal was not easy, though. “I faced many difficulties in the beginning, as I did not have experience or a clear method for memorization,” he said.

“I would review it with myself sometimes and search for a sheikh to guide me,” he told Saudi TV Al Ekhbariya.

Later, he came to know a Sudanese cleric in his neighborhood, an encounter that proved a milestone in his journey.

“That sheikh was very strict. But thanks to Allah and then thanks to his advice, I began memorizing the Quran in such a methodical way that I brought my children with me to the sessions, and they watched me memorizing,” he recalled.

Al Rabhi pointed out that commitment and follow-up with the scholars helped him consolidate his correct memorization of the Quran that is divided into 30 parts or Juzes.

“Memorization requires patience and perseverance. It is important for the person to adhere to the correct approach and not despair,” said Al Rabhi, who was recently honored at a public ceremony for his prolonged resolve.

His message is clear: “Do not despair, no matter how long it takes. Memorizing the Quran is not just a goal, but a journey of faith that brings you closer to Allah.”
