AhlulBayt News Agency: The President of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) made an order to organize the proceedings related to the request of the United Nations General Assembly to obtain an advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations in relation to the presence and activities of the United Nations, other international organizations and third states in and in relation to the occupied Palestinian territory.
In his Order dated December 23, 2024, the President decided that “the United Nations and its Member States, as well as the observer State of Palestine, are considered likely to be able to furnish information on the question submitted to the Court for an advisory opinion and may do so within the time-limits fixed in this Order.”
The President fixed February 28, 2025, as the time-limit within which written statements on the question may be presented to the Court.
This comes after the UN General Assembly adopted, on December 19, a decision that confirms requesting the ICJ to render an advisory opinion, following the Israeli Knesset’s decision to prevent UNRWA from providing basic services to the Palestinians.
