AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, during the Seminary and University Unity Day in a visit to Sistan and Baluchestan Province and the city of Zahedan, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani told reporters that Imam Khomeini (r.a.) was the pioneer of seminary and university unity.
The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly added, “In the past, some had sought to separate the institution of religion from the institution of science. Similarly, there were efforts to separate the institution of religion from that of reason.
“During the ecclesiastical rule, where both religious and scientific matters were under the Church’s authority, extremist actions led to a scientific renaissance. Subsequently, attempts were made to separate science from religion,” he stated.
Ayatollah Ramazani noted, “With the Islamic Revolution of Iran, a value-based system rooted in divine and human values, the intellectual elite of society – namely, the seminary and the university – play a pivotal role in society’s growth and development.”
“The institution of religion has no conflict with the institution of science, and science has no conflict with religion,” the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts emphasized, “The seminary and the university must have a strategic unity."
“The institution of science seeks to uncover truths to serve humanity. The scientific achievements of today’s world can, within a religious and value-based system, benefit humanity,” he added.
Ayatollah Ramazani further remarked, “In a political system governed by a value-based framework, the intellectual elite of society must have scientific and value-based ties to enable society’s progress toward achieving a new Islamic civilization.”
Referring to Ayatollah Khamenei’s seven recommendations in the “Second Phase of the Revolution Statement,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “After emphasizing scientific progress, ethics, spirituality, combating corruption, and other areas, the Supreme Leader stressed the Islamic lifestyle, which can serve as the software of Islamic civilization.”
“Without the connection and interaction between seminary scholars and academics, we will not succeed in realizing the new Islamic civilization,” he stated.
“The managerial system of a country often falls to academics. Therefore, this group must operate within the value-based (Islamic) framework defined for them,” Ayatollah Ramazani noted.
Concluding his remarks, the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts said, “To achieve the lofty goals of the Islamic government of Iran and the discourse of the Islamic Revolution – namely, rationality, spirituality, and justice in society – we must focus on the unity and connection between the seminary and the university.”
