AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Speaking at the international conference “The Resistance of Yemen and International Security with a Focus on the Current Regional Situation,” held at the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Rahmatollah Rouhi, an expert on West Asia and Arab countries, referring to the conspiracies of the Zionist regime, stated, “This regime is our existential enemy, and the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) emphasized that the Zionist regime must be eradicated. This regime has been behind all conspiracies since the advent of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.”
“Syria has also identified the Zionist regime as its existential enemy, and based on this shared enemy, we were united with Syria. Syria served as our passageway for assisting Hezbollah. Without Syria, Lebanese Hezbollah would not have been established or gained strength,” he continued.
“The Assad government wisely allied itself with Iran when it realized it could not defeat the Zionist regime in a conventional war. It joined hands with Iran to combat this regime through guerrilla warfare,” Rouhi added.
Referring to the Syrian crisis, the West Asia affairs expert, said, “The developments in Syria in 2011 began not only from the country’s central regions but also from its borders. Syria was a highly securitized state, and its citizens did not have access to weapons. However, during the crisis, the United States armed opposition forces, who then waged war against the government. When they failed to make significant progress over several years, they created ISIS in Iraq, and this extremist group quickly occupied a substantial portion of Iraqi territory. High-ranking intelligence officers led the terrorist group, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was trained in American prisons.”
“When ISIS began its activities, we (Iran) entered the war against the terrorist group in Syria. This terrorist group was founded based on Wahhabism. We did not go to Syria to defend the Ba’athist government. When Iran entered Syria, only 16% of its territory was under government control, but eventually, various regions were cleared, and all armed opposition forces were packed in Idlib,” he continued.
“The Americans severely weakened the Syrian government through intense economic sanctions to destroy the country’s infrastructures. As a result, the Syrian government could no longer endure another blow and collapsed,” Dr. Rouhi remarked.
The expert, referring to the continuation of the Resistance Front, stated, “Martyr Soleimani taught the Resistance how to fish. Today, Lebanese Hezbollah has the capability to manufacture missiles. After the martyrdom of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, missile strikes on occupied territories during the war increased four times.”
About Syria, he said, “Various armed groups exist in Syria, and conflicts among these groups in the country are possible.”
About the results of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, Dr. Rouhi said, “One of the miracles of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation was the unity across different fronts, and this solidarity will continue. The psychological security of the Zionists was shattered during the operation, and the announcement of the end of the Zionist regime’s war against Gaza indicates the end of this regime’s existence.”
In the end, the expert on West Asian affairs concluded, “Yemen is not only the lion of the Resistance Axis now, but by engaging Saudi Arabia, it ensured that the House of Saud regime could no longer interfere in Syria.”
