Analysis: Booby-trapped buildings, a Hamas shadow of death on Israeli occupation soldiers

In recent days, Israel's casualties have increased in Gaza compared to the month before and this is coming amid remarks by various sides about progress in the ceasefire negotiations.

AhlulBayt News Agency: In recent days, Israel's casualties have increased in Gaza compared to the month before and this is coming amid remarks by various sides about progress in the ceasefire negotiations.

The Hamas military wing Ezzudin Qassam Brigades have stepped up their attacks on Israeli occupation forces as Israel has intensified its crimes in the form of food and medicine denial to the north and new round of attacks on hospitals and refugee camps.

On Saturday, Qassam Brigades announced that in an operation in the center of the Jabalia camp in the center of the Gaza Strip, they killed three Israeli soldiers using cold weapons and seized their personal weapons.

"The resistance fighters then attacked a shelter of a number of occupying army infantry forces in a building, and then killed two Zionist soldiers at the entrance to the building and clashed with other members of the unit from a minimum distance," said a statement by the resistance force.

This is the third successful operation of the Qassam Brigades against the Israelis occupiers in the past three days, which has inflicted casualties on the enemy.

Hours before this operation, the resistance fighters had carried out another complex two-stage security operation against the soldiers of the occupying army in the Jabalia camp, during which a Qassam fighter killed an Israpeli sniper and his assistant from point-blank range, and then the same Palestinian fighter put on the uniform of the Israeli soldier and blew himself up among six Israeli soldiers using an explosive belt.

On Thursday, the Qassam Brigades had also announced the operation of one of its fighters in Jabalia, during which an Israeli officer and three soldiers were targeted from point-blank range and their weapons were seized by the fighter.

The anti-Israeli operations are not limited to the northern Gaza and on Tuesday in an operation in Rafah in southern Gaza, two Israeli soldiers were killed by Palestinians.

The Israeli army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, announced on Tuesday that a 35-year-old IDF officer from the town of Mud'ain Airot and a company commander in the 7107th engineering battalion of the Nahal Division were killed in an ambush during clashes in Rafah.

The deaths and injuries of Israeli soldiers in Rafah come at a time when the army had claimed to have destroyed the Rafah brigade.

The strong repetition of serial anti-occupation operations in Gaza has once again made the narrative of the Israeli leaders about the destruction of Hamas' capabilities more and more invalid, just as the announcement of new negotiations with Hamas for a prisoner swap deal had previously tarnished this narrative.

Booby-trapped buildings; new horror for Israeli occupation

One of the interesting points about intensified operations by resistance forces against the Israelis in Gaza is the use of empty buildings for their booby-traps.

Qassam Brigades announced that Palestinian fighters blew up an empty house where 11 Israeli soldiers were taking shelter in Jabalia camp, killing and injuring some of them.

Israeli media reported that a number of Israeli soldiers were injured when a building collapsed in Rafah.

Israeli radio had previously quoted officers as saying that in Rafah alone there were more than 14,000 buildings that were booby-trapped to "target our soldiers", and that Hamas was planning to blow up 30 to 40 houses at a time.

According to the latest figures released by international monitoring organizations, satellite assessments show that 66 percent of the buildings in the Gaza Strip, including 163,778, were affected by the war, of which 52,564 were completely destroyed, 18,913 were severely damaged, 35,591 may have been damaged, and 56,710 buildings were slightly damaged.

This situation pushes the Israeli forces to look for Palestinian fighters in uninhabited houses and neighborhoods due to the lack of an information bank about tunnels and weapons storages of resistance groups across Gaza. Thus is providing Gaza fighters with a golden opportunity to inflict casualties on the occupiers by blowing up the houses.

Resistance rebuilding its power in Gaza

A look at the number of Israeli casualties over the past three months shows that since October this year that was the deadliest month for Israeli forces with 88 deaths since October 2023, the current months is becoming another deadly month for the occupation army.

"60 occupation soldiers and officers, including the commander of Brigade 401, have been killed in Gaza over the past seventy-seven days," Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed quoted Hamas as saying.

The statistics show that one of the main reasons for the record number of Israeli casualties in October was the war on the Lebanese front, with 41 soldiers and 13 settlers killed in battles in southern Lebanon and on the northern border.

Therefore, if the losses of Israeli forces on the Lebanese front are deducted from the October figures, it can be seen that December and November were bloody months for the occupation army in Gaza, something that once against gives away the falsehood of claims of Israeli leaders and commanders about destroying capabilities of the resistance forces in Gaza.

Actually, the increase in explosions that lead to casualties and the Israeli inability to find whereabouts of the Israeli prisoners held by Hamas demonstrates the growing trend of Hamas capability restoration across Gaza.
