AhlulBayt News Agency: A group of Shia Muslims from Madagascar visited the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran, on Sunday.

A total of 150 Shias from the African country visited the mausoleum on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA).

The non-Iranian pilgrims department of the Astan Quds Razavi (the custodianship of the holy shrine) hosted the pilgrims.

After participating in the congregational prayers and reciting the Holy Quran, the pilgrims became familiar with the teachings and Seerah of Hazrat Zahra (SA).

They also listened to a speech in French about the virtues and outstanding characteristics of the great lady and her role in the history of Islam.

Later, there was a eulogy recitation program held in French for the pilgrims from Madagascar.

The programs were not only an opportunity to honor the esteemed position of Hazrat Zahra (SA), but they also are part of efforts to strengthen the cultural and spiritual connections among pilgrims from various countries and the Astan Quds Razavi.

The 20th day of the month of Jumada al-Thani in the lunar Hijri calendar, which fell on Sunday, December 22, 2024, this year, marks the birth anniversary of the beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Madagascar is an island nation off the southeast coast of Africa.

Islam has been well established in what is now known as Madagascar for centuries.

Today Muslims represent about ten percent of the population of the African country.
