AhlulBayt News Agency: The Government Media Office (GMO) condemned Israel’s frequent threats against Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip and urged the World Health Organization to immediately dispatch a field delegation to assess the scope of the crime, protect the hospital and medical staff, and provide safe corridors.
According to the GMO, the occupation threatened to evacuate, storm, and bomb Kamal Adwan Hospital, endanger the lives of health cadres working there, force medical staff and patients to evacuate, and deny hundreds of patients and wounded access to treatment and health care.
It went on to say that targeting, bombing, and threatening hospitals, as well as endangering the lives of health workers, is a humanitarian and moral crime, as well as a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms that ensure the protection of health facilities and medical personnel during wartime.
The Office warned that this is not the first time the occupation army has carried out blatant attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital, and that these attacks have continued for nearly 80 days since the ground invasion of the northern Gaza Strip Governorate, which has claimed the lives of thousands of martyrs, in addition to thousands of others who went missing, wounded, or detained.
The GMO held the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and the countries that participated in the genocide, such as Britain, Germany, and France, fully accountable for the continuation of these crimes and blatant violations, as well as the continuation of the genocide crime.
Earlier Saturday, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, encircled by Israeli drones and tanks, pleaded with the international community to intervene to protect the northern Gaza hospital as Israel ordered patients as well as hospital staff to evacuate.
“We are now facing direct bombing of the intensive care unit again,” Dr Hussam Abu Safia said in a video statement on Saturday night, calling on the international community to protect the hospital and its 66 remaining patients as well as medical staff.
“The nursery, maternity, and all departments of the hospital are being targeted by the occupation forces with all types of weapons, including sniper fire, tank shells, and quadcopters,” he added.
“For more than an hour now, shells are raining down on us from every corner, mile, and direction.”
The hospital remains one of the few still operational in the area, where only a handful of doctors remain to treat patients amid a severe shortage or complete depletion of essential medical supplies.
