AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An Iranian cleric said the Itikaf ceremonies that will be held later this (Islamic calendar) year should serve as a platform for explaining and promoting the discourse of Islamic resistance.
Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abolqassem Kazemi, director general of the Awqaf Department of Charmahal and Bakhtiari Province, made the remark in a meeting of the province’s Itikaf Headquarters in Shahrekord on Sunday.
He said this year’s Itikaf should be different from those in previous years given the developments at the regional and international levels.
Explaining and spreading the discourse of resistance should be on the agenda of the planners and organizers of Itikaf ceremonies and those delivering speeches during the ceremonies, he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Kazemi referred to Verse 125 of Surah Al-Baqarah, “We made the house (in Mecca) as a place of refuge and sanctuary for men. Adopt the place where Abraham stood as a place for prayer, We advised Abraham and Ishmael to keep My house clean for the pilgrims, the worshippers and for those who bow down and prostrate themselves in worship,” and said according to this verse, to emphasize the esteemed status of Itikaf, it is enough to note that God tasked two prophets with preparing their homes for Itikaf.
He also highlighted the development of Itikaf ceremonies in Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Itikaf is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, and is regarded as a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.
It is a spiritual practice in Islam that involves staying in a mosque for a certain number of days, fasting, and praying to God.
It is usually performed on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, which fall on January 14, 15, and 16, 2024.
