AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The family of Imam Musa al-Sadr has refuted rumors circulating on social media regarding his presence in Saydnaya Prison, located in the outskirts of Damascus, Syria.
Hawzah News Agency- The family issued a statement emphasizing that “all these reports are baseless and lack any credibility.”
This statement followed claims made in recent days by media outlets and social media suggesting that Imam Musa al-Sadr was detained in Saydnaya Prison.
The statement further stressed: “In any case, we are closely monitoring the situation and following all developments, as we remain fully convinced that Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions, Sheikh Muhammad Ya’qoub and journalist Abbas Badr al-Din, are being held somewhere in Libya. Judicial investigations and statements from Libyan authorities after the revolution strongly support this conclusion.”
The family of Imam Musa al-Sadr expressed their deep gratitude for the unwavering support of those eagerly awaiting the return of the Imam and his companions. They also used the opportunity to once again call on Libyan authorities, particularly the judiciary, to cooperate with the committee following the case. They urged them to fulfill their responsibilities by implementing the agreements and abandoning policies of procrastination and evasion.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the critical need for Imam Musa al-Sadr’s presence in Lebanon, particularly given the current challenging and sensitive circumstances in Lebanon, the region, and the world. The family urged his supporters to pray fervently for the safe return of the Imam and his companions.
