Quran in Uthman Taha calligraphy style printed in Iraq for first time

Copies of the Quran in the Uthman Taha style of calligraphy were printed in Iraq for the first time.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Copies of the Quran in the Uthman Taha style of calligraphy were printed in Iraq for the first time.

The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine announced this.

The Quran copies were printed on the order of Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi, the custodian of the holy shrine, it said.

The Dar-ol-Quran Center and the Al-Warith Publishing House cooperated in printing the copies, according to Sheikh Khayruddin al-Hadi, head of the center.

He said high quality paper and standard ink have been used to print 500 copies.

He added that scientific and technical committees have supervised all stages of printing.

The Qurans will be distributed free of charge in an upcoming Quranic conference as part of the Astan’s efforts to promote the Quranic culture, he stated.

Also, Amal al-Matouri, another official at the center, said that while such a project takes at least six months to complete, the center’s committees manages to print the copies in 22 days.

The Uthman Taha style is a style of writing the Quran with the Kufic script according to Warsh recitation and other recitations introduced by Syrian calligrapher Uthman Taha.
