AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Iranian cleric said Itikaf is an opportunity for spreading the discourse of Islamic resistance.
Hojat-ol-Islam Abdollah Hajisadeqi, representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), made the remark in an address to a conference on Itikaf management, held at the Jamkaran Mosque in Qom on Thursday.
He said Itikaf is a unique opportunity for spiritual rereading, training Mujahids (fighters on the path of God) and promoting the discourse of resistance.
This spiritual opportunity should be used to enhance faith, determination and readiness to confront the enemies, he added.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hajisadeqi said the enemies are trying to change the cultural taste of Muslim youth through cultural and ideological onslaughts but Itikaf can be a bastion to counter these attempts and culturally reconstruct the society based on religious teachings.
He stressed the need for purposeful planning for Itikaf, noting that the religious ritual should be more than a personal act of worship and become a workshop for strengthening faith, hope and resolve.
The capacities of Itikaf should also be used for clarifying the teachings of the Quran and Hadiths about resistance, he went on to say.
Itikaf is a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, and is regarded as a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.
It is a spiritual practice in Islam that involves staying in a mosque for a certain number of days, fasting, and praying to God.
It is usually performed on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar.
