AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) president was gifted a copy of the Holy Quran with English and Korean translations.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim presented the copy to Hussein Kim Dong Eok as a gift for the Muslim community in the East Asian country.
The handover took place during their 30-minute meeting in Seoul.
On the final day of his visit to South Korea Tuesday, Anwar was scheduled to deliver a special public lecture titled "Strategic Partners in a Complex World: Malaysia, Korea, and the Future of Asia" at Seoul National University (SNU), one of the top local universities in the republic.
Earlier this month, Anwar Ibrahim had gifted copies of Islam’s Holy Book with Spanish translation to the Muslim community in Peru.
His three-day official visit to South Korea came following an invitation from President Yoon Suk Yeol.
According to an estimate by the KFM, the number of Muslims in South Korea currently stands at about 200,000, which is 0.38 per cent of the overall population.
The majority is made up of students and workers who have come from Turkey, Pakistan and Uzbekistan and have now claimed Korean citizenship.
