Qom Seminary instructors condemn terrorist attack targeting Pakistani Shias

The Qom Seminary Instructors Society denounced a recent terrorist attack that killed scores of Shias in Pakistan, warning of enemy plots to undermine Muslim unity.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Qom Seminary Instructors Society denounced a recent terrorist attack that killed scores of Shias in Pakistan, warning of enemy plots to undermine Muslim unity.

The society issued a statement after at least 42 Shia Muslims were killed and 20 injured in an attack on a convoy in Pakistan’s Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday.

The ambush occurred as the convoy traveled from Parachinar to Peshawar, days after the reopening of a key highway following sectarian clashes.

In its statement, the Qom Seminary Instructors Society said the criminal act once again revealed the true face of Takfiris.

It said that with such atrocities, the mercenaries of the world arrogance and the Zionists seek to undermine unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims in Pakistan and prevent the empowerment of a united Muslim Ummah against enemies.

Such plots are hatched by Zionist spy agencies and think tanks but will be foiled with the enlightenment by scholars and with the insight of the people of that region, it added.

The statement also warned that if the Islamabad government fails to decisively confront such moves, they will undermine Pakistan’s national security.

The Qom Seminary Instructors Society also offered condolences to the families of those martyred in the attack and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

Shia Muslims constitute about 15% of Pakistan's 240 million population, with a history of sectarian tensions with the Sunni majority. While the two communities generally coexist peacefully, areas like Kurram have seen persistent violence. Since July, dozens have died in sectarian clashes triggered by a land dispute.

Pakistan continues to grapple with violence in its northwest and southwest regions, where militants and separatists frequently target security forces and civilians. The Pakistani Taliban, distinct but linked to Afghanistan’s Taliban, are often blamed for violence in the northwest, while the Baloch Liberation Army is held responsible for unrest in Balochistan.
