AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In the most recent aggression, separate Israeli air attacks have killed at least five paramedics in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Health Ministry in a statement said an Israeli strike targeted a team belonging to the Islamic Health Association’s civil defense unit in Qotrani village, Jezzine district, killing three medics and injuring three others.
Earlier, the ministry said two paramedics were killed when an airstrike targeted their ambulance in Deir Qanoun Ras Al-Ain, Tyre district.
“Israeli forces continue to blatantly disregard international laws, customs, and humanitarian agreements,” it added.
The ministry condemned the airstrikes and said it amounts to a war crime.
Israeli forces continue to blatantly disregard international laws, customs, and humanitarian agreements.”
There have been more than 226 deaths of health workers in the past 13 months of Israeli aggression, the majority since mid-September, when Israel escalated its aggression against Lebanon.
The attacks against health workers have also been censured by human rights groups and the World Health Organization, saying they violate international humanitarian law.
Every time these paramedics head to a site to retrieve bodies or to help the wounded, they come under fire.
Even centers where they work have been hit. Earlier this month, such a center in Baalbek, in eastern Lebanon, was hit and more than a dozen paramedics were killed.
Paramedics, hospitals, and humanitarian aid workers are off limits under the rules of war, but have all been targeted by Gaza’s recent offensives in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.
The trajectory of this conflict is one of escalation at a time when it is becoming clear that the latest attempt by the US administration to bring about a ceasefire has failed.
Israeli warplanes escalate attacks on residential areas
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes have carried out fresh airstrikes on the Lebanese capital of Beirut, as the carnage continues with no end in sight in the Arab country.
The regime once again heavily bombed the southern Beirut suburbs of Dahieh.
Israel’s attack also targeted Beirut’s southern suburb of Chiyah.
While Beirut’s southern suburbs have been repeatedly hit in recent months, it is the first time this neighborhood – located near a busy highway – has been hit.
The Israeli military also hit the town of Naqoura in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon with incendiary bombs.
Social media accounts of Lebanese users and media have published videos of the moment Israeli air strikes hit the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.
The footage shows thick smoke rising over the al-Housh area.
The Health Ministry says the death toll from Israeli strikes in the northeastern Baalbek region has risen to 47.
There are also reports coming from the UN forces in Lebanon that four Italian soldiers were injured in shelling.
Political analyst, Radwan Rizk, told Press TV that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no intention of reaching a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
In an interview with Lebanon’s al-Manar television network on Wednesday, Mahmoud Qamati, a member of the Political Council of Hezbollah, said any US-brokered truce between Hezbollah and the Tel Aviv regime must swiftly end the war on the Arab country and uphold its sovereignty.
His remarks appeared to reference the regime’s position that it would want a free hand to continue attacking Lebanon even with a ceasefire in place.
The US and France have led efforts to broker a ceasefire in Israel’s devastating war on Lebanon.
Since last October, nearly 3,600 Lebanese have been killed, with over 15,200 more injured in Israeli attacks.
