AhlulBayt News Agency: The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has criticized the international community’s silence regarding the normalization of child killings in Gaza and Lebanon.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva on Tuesday, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder referred to a report indicating that a significant number of the approximately 44,000 people killed in Gaza during the 13-month-long war were children.
He warned: There are horrifying similarities between the wars in Lebanon and Gaza; as a result, the killing of children in Lebanon is also quietly becoming normalized.
James Elder spoke about the martyrdom of over 200 children in Lebanon in less than two months, stating that a concerning pattern of “normalization” has emerged in this regard.
Palestinian health officials in Gaza have reported that since the war began on October 7, 2023, thousands of Palestinian children have been killed, with many others facing lifelong physical and psychological trauma.
