AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A 32-year-old grasscutter was arrested yesterday after two objects suspected to be explosive devices were discovered at a mosque in Miri, Malaysia.
Miri police chief Alexson Naga Chabu reported that a bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the mosque in Senadin following a report about two packages resembling bombs. “Following an investigation, the police confirmed that the packages were not explosive items,” he told The Borneo Post.
The discovery caused panic among the mosque’s congregation and nearby residents, according to Free Malaysia Today. Several police vehicles patrolled the area, and residents were advised to evacuate their homes while the objects were being examined.
Alexson stated that the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code for intentionally wounding the religious feelings of others, and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. He urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case to avoid causing unrest.
