69% of Israelis want prisoner exchange deal with Hamas

An Israeli opinion poll showed that 69% of Israelis support concluding a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, while 20% support continuing the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip.

AhlulBayt News Agency: An Israeli opinion poll showed that 69% of Israelis support concluding a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, while 20% support continuing the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip.

The poll, conducted by and aired on Israeli Channel 12 on Friday, showed that 46% of supporters of the Israeli occupation government’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prefer an exchange deal, while 36% support the option of continuing the war on Gaza.

Israel is witnessing internal disputes over several issues regarding the continuation of the war on Gaza and Lebanon and the human and economic losses it is incurring as a result, and the conscription law issue, in addition to its failure to recover its prisoners.

The Israeli opposition has repeatedly accused Netanyahu of obstructing efforts to reach an exchange deal, accusing him of seeking to prolong the war to achieve political gains.

Earlier on Friday, another opinion poll conducted by the Maariv newspaper showed that popular support for Netanyahu’s coalition continues to decline, while the opposition’s chances have improved for the second week in a row.

According to the poll, Netanyahu’s Likud party would win 23 seats if elections were held now, down from 24 seats in last week’s poll.
