AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Iranian cleric has named three main responsibilities of Islamic seminaries according to the Holy Quran.
Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli recently received several senior scholars of Islamic Fiqh (jurisprudence) in Qom.
In his address, he cited verse 125 of Surah An-Nahl which reads: "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice and dispute with them in a manner that is best. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are guided."
Drawing from the verse, the Shia Marja named wisdom, good advice and best argument as the key responsibilities of the Islamic seminaries.
These roles, should be distributed among the teachers, he said, adding, "Therefore, seminaries should integrate jurisprudence, law, and the best argument with Quranic education."
He urged seminary lecturers to include a Quranic discussion alongside their jurisprudence lessons.
