In a recent video message released by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he made an unprecedented reference to the Western-driven slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom,” over two years after the end of the unrest in Iran. The message was aimed at influencing those in Iran who lean toward the West.
In this message, Netanyahu said, “Woman, Life, Freedom!” indirectly urging the Iranian people to change their course. This message, especially due to his direct reference to this high-profile project, quickly sparked widespread reactions in Iran.
Western and Israeli attempts to interfere in Iran
In recent years, certain Western countries,
including the U.S., the UK, Germany, France, and Israel, have
coordinated efforts to pressure and stir unrest in Iran.
These countries have focused on economic issues in an attempt to create conditions that cause unrest in the country.
In September 2022, the death of Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman of Kurdish ethnicity and a religious minority, while in police custody, provided an opportunity for foreign media and intelligence agencies to incite unrest across Iran by falsely reporting her death as a murder.
In fact, this incident created the conditions for Western countries to carry out media programs and coordinated operations, serving as a pretext for some international networks to widely and purposefully initiate, promote, and encourage protests.
Despite extensive propaganda and efforts by Western-affiliated media, the protests quickly subsided, and the widespread presence of the Iranian people helped to limit the scope of the unrest, which was driven by armed and terrorist forces supported by Israel among the protesters.
Lebanese media outlet al Mayadeen reported that the U.S., the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Belgium, Austria, Australia, Iceland, Italy, and Israel were among the parties involved in Iran’s unrest.
Social media reactions to Netanyahu’s message; “Israel’s revealed plan”
Netanyahu’s recent message to the Iranian people, however, was widely mocked by Iranians and sparked extensive reactions on social media. Iranian users on the X platform (formerly Twitter) viewed this message as exposing the Israeli regime’s schemes and plans to incite unrest in Iran.
A user named Hossein Ebrahimi, a political activist, wrote: “This vile killer, this evil demon, spoke of Woman, Life, Freedom tonight. The devil is revealing his own hand, making everything clear for everyone.” He viewed Netanyahu’s remarks as clear evidence of the Israeli regime’s role in the unrest that occurred in Iran.
Another Iranian user on X, Mostafa Gorji, also viewed the Israeli
prime minister’s remarks as a sign of the regime’s defeat against
resistance forces and the unmasking of Netanyahu in the 2022 unrest in
Iran.
He wrote: “Netanyahu has finally removed his mask and is now turning to
the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ agitators. After failing in the northern
front and facing repeated setbacks, he has now resorted to populist
slogans. From now on, any issue regarding hijab will be seen as Israel’s
doing.”
The role of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” project in Israeli foreign policy
Iranian users and analysts focused their reactions to Netanyahu’s
message on the idea that Israel and some Western governments are
highlighting the slogans of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” riots to use
these social demands in Iran as tools for advancing their political and
security objectives, particularly in light of recent developments in
West Asia and with a focus on Generation Z.
