AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): More than 13,000 inmates serving time in prison across Morocco have learned the Quran by heart.
The prison authority in the North African country said that benefiting from Quran memorization programs organized in jails, 13,464 prisoners memorized the Holy Book, hespress.com website reported.
More than 67,000 inmates attended guidance program and sermons organized in cooperation with the Awqaf and Islamic affairs ministry, it added.
Referring to the plans for the next year, the prison authority said it will continue cooperation with the Awqaf ministry in holding religious and Quranic programs.
It said the number of institutes that hold Quran memorization programs in jails will increase in 2025.
It also pledge to keep up efforts to promote Islamic guidance in prisons across Morocco.
Morocco is a North African Arab country bordering the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Islam is the predominant religion in Morocco, with some 99 percent of the population adhering to it.
