AhlulBayt News Agency: German government's welcome for Israeli genocide in Gaza has nothing to do with feeling of guilt towards holocaust, it is rather a different issue.
German officials know that Israel is committing another holocaust, but they try to show it as normal, just and inevitable. The reason why they act so, needs to be fathomed.
In an article, has analyzed this behavior of the Germans during the past year vis-à-vis Palestinians. The following is part of this article:
Since October 7, 2023, no country has been as strict and extremist as Germany in suppression of supporters of Palestine and backing the genocide unleashed by the Zionist regime in Gaza. Nowadays, holding demonstrations in support for Palestine in Berlin and anywhere in Germany will face with brutal attack of the police and media in the country.
Germany has outpaced the American Democratic party in supporting the Zionist regime and enmity against the defenseless people of Palestine. But the question is: What causes this behavior of the German government and why is this country enthusiastically paying the heavy costs of defending the fake Zionist regime?
The answer is hidden in part of the German history which is accidentally dark and disgusting. But, contrary to the dominant view it has nothing to do with holocaust and the effort to make amends for the crimes of the Nazi Germany and being sure of not repeating the event. The bitter reality is that Germany has never gotten rid of Nazism and has never coped with the elimination of policies that led to the emergence of Adolf Hitler.
The "German Disease" epidemic in WWI and WWII twice imperiled peace and security all over the planet and caused a lot of damages for human civilization. After WWII, new acceptance of Germany in the world community was related to elimination of Nazism. At that time, Germany was supposed to be merely a state of agriculture and animal husbandry.
However, Germans were lucky as this trend was soon abandoned. They were lucky as immediately after WWII, Cold War began between the US and the USSR and the importance of elimination of Nazism was eclipsed.
During the post-WWII climate, Western countries were strongly opposed to arming Germany once more. The Morgenthau Plan which was supported by then US President, Theodore Roosevelt in 1944, called for complete elimination of Germany's arms industry and other industries which could help reconstruct the German army. The German military industries were acting like political structures which could lead to new emergence of the Nazis.
With unconditioned and unlimited support for the nascent Jewish "state", as the military base of the West in West Asia, Germany tried to repair its image among Western rivals. In 1953, Germany started to pay for losses, but not to the survivors of holocaust, rather for the Israeli "state" and that in the form of arms exports.
Meanwhile, the West led by the US, was concentrated on fighting the USSR. Finally, Germany joined NATO in 1955 and the process of elimination of Nazism was forgotten. Indeed, instead of omitting the ideology of genocide which would pave the way for holocaust, the West turned Germany into an entity which would always give a hug to Israel.
It should be noted that holocaust was not the first genocide committed by the Germans. In the years 1904-1907, German army, commanded by General Lothar von Trotha massacred %80 of Herero people and %50 of Nama people in southwest of Africa.
German government's welcome for Israeli genocide in Gaza has nothing to do with feeling of guilt towards holocaust, it rather indicates Germany's intention to normalize the phenomenon of genocide and relativize its crimes in the contemporary history. The Israeli crimes in Gaza give the Germans the chance to whitewash their own crimes during WWI and WWII.
German officials completely understand that Israel is committing genocide and has started the war with the purpose of ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, is quite aware of the incessant bombing of Gaza and starvation of the Palestinian children and has surely heard that Yoav Gallant, the deposed War Minister of the Zionist regime started genocide in Gaza with describing Palestinians as a "bunch of animals". This is what Heinrich Himmler, the criminal SS commander, used for Jews on October 4, 1943.
