AhlulBayt News Agency: The United States and Britain have launched airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, the Al-Jawf governorate, and other areas, according to media outlets affiliated with the Houthi group. The Al-Masirah channel reported that around nine strikes targeted Sana’a and its outskirts, as well as the Al-Jawf governorate.
Additionally, the French news agency reported that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated that American fighter jets conducted several airstrikes on Saturday night, targeting what they claimed were advanced weapon storage facilities belonging to the Houthis. An American defense official indicated that the weapons were being used to attack military and civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. On Friday, the Houthis announced the downing of an American MQ-9 drone with a missile while it was conducting what they described as hostile operations in Al-Jawf governorate, northeast of Sana’a.
On another front, the British Maritime Trade Operations agency said in a statement that a commercial vessel sailing near Yemen was ordered to change its course approximately 57 nautical miles southwest of Aden by a party identifying itself as the Yemeni authorities. In solidarity with Gaza, which is facing Israeli genocide supported by the US, the Houthis are targeting Israeli or affiliated shipping vessels in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean with missiles and drones, and they are also carrying out missile and drone attacks on Israel, including operations targeting Tel Aviv.
Since the beginning of this year, a US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes that it claims target Houthi positions in various regions of Yemen in response to their maritime attacks, which have been met with retaliation from the group from time to time. These attacks have disrupted global trade, forcing ship owners to reroute away from the Red Sea and the Suez Canal through a lengthy path around the southern tip of Africa.
