AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The grand imam of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center commended the stances of Estonia against the Israeli regime.
In a meeting with Estonia’s President Alar Karis, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb hailed the Eastern European country’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its vote in the UN General Assembly in favor of Palestine’s membership.
He said these stances demonstrate Tallinn’s commitment to humanitarian principles and international justice and raise hope for the international community’s support for Palestinians’ legitimate rights.
Describing the massacre of the people of the Gaza Strip, Sheikh al-Tayeb said the atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime are unimaginable and indescribable.
He said the people of Gaza have committed no crime but have only insisted on staying in their homeland and refusing to leave it.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh al-Tayeb elaborated on the activities of Al-Azhar, saying its approach for over a thousand years has been promoting the message of spreading peace in the world.
He added that Al-Azhar has more than 60,000 students from over 100 countries.
He expressed the center’s readiness to offer scholarships to Estonian Muslim students who wish to study at Al-Azhar.
