Importance and Consequences of choosing new Hezbollah secretary general

One month after the martyrdom of Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it has chosen Sheikh Naim Qassem as its new secretary general.

AhlulBayt News Agency: One month after the martyrdom of Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it has chosen Sheikh Naim Qassem as its new secretary general.

Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah was martyred on September 27 during a terrorist operation of the Zionist regime in the south of Lebanon. 33 days after this crime, Sheikh Naim Qassem, 70, who had been Nasrallah's deputy, was chosen as the secretary general of Hezbollah. Choosing Naim Qassem for this position is significant from different aspects.

The first aspect is that Sheikh Naim Qassem has the past record of organizational activity in both movements of Amal and Hezbollah. He is among the persons who has played a role in formation of both Amal and Hezbollah. This important organizational feature enables Sheikh Naim Qassem to revise the structural and military power of Hezbollah.

Political analyst and writer, Hassan Ibrahim, said in this regard, "This choice has been done due to the personality of Sheikh Naim Qassem. He is a faithful person and active in the organizational fields and has a serious and strong character."

The second important aspect of choosing Sheikh Naim Qassem as the secretary general of Hezbollah is that it proves the fact that, despite the crimes of the Zionist regime and assassination of a big number of the commanders and leaders of Hezbollah, this movement is dynamic and has left behind the shock of the assassination of its mujahid and charismatic leader, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah. Choosing the new secretary general reveals the internal consolidation and coherence of Hezbollah and its supreme council.

The third aspect to note in choosing Sheikh Naim Qassem, as the new secretary general of Hezbollah, is that it clearly indicates the movement's resolve to continue the struggle against the fake Zionist regime and the fact that Hezbollah has put this struggle on the agenda as one of the most important principles.

Sheikh Naim Qassem's character, his over 30 years of experience as deputy of Hezbollah leader, and his participation in the four wars of 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2006 shows that, with him, Hezbollah will continue the path of Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah to fight the Occupying regime and will play an active role in the axis of resistance.

The final point is that choosing Sheikh Naim Qassem as the new secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah, while the fabricated Zionist regime is hell-bent on assassination of its commanders and leaders, indicates the fact that Hezbollah commanders and leaders not only are not afraid of terrorist acts and crimes of the Zionist regime, but also, they consciously choose the path of jihad and martyrdom in the way of God. This is the fundamental issue which the Zionist regime will never be able to understand, hence, it is overwhelmed by the wrong thought that it can disintegrate Hezbollah or other resistance groups through assassination of their leaders and commanders.
