AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): At least a soldier has been killed and several others sustained injuries after Israel launched airstrikes in the Syrian capital Damascus and the central province of Homs.
Israeli airstrikes hit two targets in the central Damascus neighborhood of Kafr Sousa, one of them a residential building, and a military position in Homs countryside early on Thursday.
“At around 03:40 a.m. on Thursday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan and from the direction of northern Lebanon, targeting two points in Kafr Sousa neighborhood in Damascus and one of the military points in Homs countryside,” Syria’s official news agency SANA reported, citing an unnamed military source.
The attack killed “one military personnel” and wounded “seven others,” it added.
According to the source, the aerial aggression also caused “material losses.”
On Wednesday, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Qusay al-Dahhak told a UN Security Council meeting that the United States, as the main supporter of the occupying entity, must cease feeding the Israeli war machine with arms and military hardware.
“For more than seven decades, our region has been suffering from the Israeli occupation, the continued Israeli occupation of the Arab territories in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, and the systematic attacks, massacres, and crimes that occupation authorities have been persistently committing,” he said.
Al-Dahhak also stressed that the region is “suffering from hostile policies pursued by Western countries supporting Israel at the expense of the security and stability of our countries and at the expense of the lives and wellbeing of our people.”
The Israeli regime has repeatedly struck Syria with air raids and artillery attacks since October 7 last year, when Tel Aviv launched its ongoing genocidal war in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“The solution is available, if the US administration was honest, but it is not,” the Syrian UN envoy said, adding, “The solution is for the US administration to stop its engagement in killing civilians in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, and to stop arming the Israeli killing machine, and enable the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in maintaining international peace and security in the region.”
The Tel Aviv regime rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territories, which many see as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s phenomenal success in confronting and decimating terrorism.
Damascus has time and again called on the UN Security Council to put an end to the regime’s attacks that violate Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
