AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli occupation forces (IOF) rejected an urgent request submitted by UNRWA to evacuate those trapped under the rubble due to the Israeli genocide being committed in the northern Gaza Strip.
UNRWA’s media official, Enas Hamdan, said in a press statement on Monday that the IOF rejected UNRWA’s request, while famine is worsening in the northern Gaza Strip due to the Israeli genocide and the policy of ethnic cleansing that the Palestinian civilians there are being subjected to.
“Over the past two weeks, we have repeatedly warned that tightening the siege on Jabalia and the northern governorate in general exacerbates catastrophic conditions, and the ongoing Israeli military operations endanger tens of thousands of civilians,” the UN official said.
“Moreover, the military attack in northern Gaza is cutting people off the necessities they need to survive, including water,” Hamdan added.
She warned that Jabalia camp has been besieged for more than two weeks, “and we are receiving information about families trapped in their homes, with water and food running out, and images coming from the camp show the residents running to survive, with no safe place to resort to.”
On October 18, two of the three remaining hospitals in the North Gaza governorate were directly targeted (Al-Awda and the Indonesian Hospitals), and these attacks are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the North Gaza Governorate in a very disturbing manner, Hamdan said.
The UN official called on Israeli occupation authorities to allow humanitarian and rescue teams to reach the sick, wounded and trapped without delay, because every minute of delay exacerbates the disaster.
